Brunello

Winemaker’s Notes:

The best grapes of the Podere Sanlorenzo and a perfect blending of territory, vineyard and cellar give birth to Bramante, a tasteful, refined and intense Brunello that expresses its best in time.

Our Tasting Notes:

We decanted this wine and let it air out before and during dinner which I think allowed it to open significantly.  The coloring of the wine was a deep ruby with a maroon tint, rather than purple, similar to the coloring of a pinot noir, but much darker throughout.  Upon initial inspection I thought it was lacking legs, but with some closer examination I realized that the legs were actually very heavy and they didn’t fall immediately, but rather stalled for a moment after swirling and then gracefully descended back towards the bottom of the glass at a slow and steady pace. The ripe tannins were the first thing I noticed upon tasting the wine and the spicy notes associated with them made it very flavorful.  The flavor was heavy, but crisp (did not leave an after-taste) with a hint of peppers, berries and pine.  I think this wine could last another 10 years in the bottle and possibly smooth out with age as it did a bit with air during the evening.

Petite Sirah

Winemaker’s Notes:

A wine for those who like big reds. This is a blend of two vineyards. One, imparting deep blackberry jam and the other imparting a subtle black pepper spice. It’s very full with almost chewy tannins that will allow this wine to age for several years.

Our Tasting Notes:

This wine had a full fruity forward flavor upon first taste, but went down very smoothly after about an hour of decanting. The color was very dark purple and it had long legs with some bit of sediment.  It was great prior to decanting as well, but the time in the decanter allowed its full deep jammy/peppery flavor to shine through.  It was right at its prime, don’t save it any longer – drink now.
